About Sarah

Background and Education

Sarah Langer grew up in a military family allowing her to grow up in Maryland, Rhode Island, Wisconsin, West Virginia and New Zealand. She attended Washington University in St. Louis, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Anthropology and Women and Gender Studies. She then continued at Washington University to complete her degree in Law.  During her law school studies she was a summer Associate with Britton Johnson and is excited to be back! Sarah enjoys spending her free time renovating her house and hanging out with her Partner and their dog and cat.

Experience

Sarah received her Juris Doctorate in May of 2018 and was admitted to the Missouri Bar in April of 2019. Sarah completed a two-year clerkship for the Honorable Jean C. Hamilton in the Eastern District of Missouri. Following her clerkship, Sarah moved to Lexington, Kentucky and in January of 2021 Sarah began work for the Department of Public Advocacy. As a Public Defender Sarah advocated on behalf of her clients on misdemeanor and felony charges through all stages of litigation including mediation and trial. Sarah further specialized in Juvenile Law, Youthful Offender cases, and Juvenile Appeals and Post-Disposition. Most recently, Sarah worked for the Children’s Law Center advocating for children in Family Court and in Educational Defense cases for children with disabilities. Sarah remains a trainer with the Department of Public Advocacy Youth Defense Training. In 2025, Sarah was honored to be a presenter at both the Department of Public Advocacy Annual Conference and the Kentucky Bar Association Annual Conference. Sarah also serves on the Board of the International Book Project.
